A house is rarely built from one day to the next. This one was made of years of experience, thousands of hours working on the instruments, many conversations with harpists, and an unwavering conviction: it is possible to do better!
Enric de Anciola has spent more than a decade at the heart of the harp industry. Starting as a technician and later becoming head of after-sales service for a harp manufacturer, he has handled hundreds of instruments – from beginners' harps to concert harps. He has learnt to listen to them, understand them and diagnose any technical issues.
This unique experience has given him something invaluable: an in-depth understanding of harpists’ real needs. Not the ones you imagine at a desk, but those you discover by spending years listening to students, teachers and concert performers talk about their instruments.
In 2019, he founded Pro.Harp.Tech, an independent organisation specialising in the regulation of pedal harps of all makes and in providing technical advice to professionals. It was a logical next step, after all those years spent understanding what harpists really expect from a well-regulated instrument.
That same year, he met Yann Albert whilst working on a music project. Yann was working in the metal industry, at a demanding engineering consultancy. He knows all about materials, manufacturing processes and mechanical constraints. And he loves music – enough to pursue it seriously.
As conversations unfolded – often late into the evening – an idea took shape. And it has stayed with us ever since. De Anciola Fine Instruments was founded to bring together what we do best: instruments where quality is considered from start to finish, accessories that harpists didn't even realise they needed, and service that meets the exacting standards of the music world.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
At De Anciola, we love real instruments, those that speak to the hand as much as to the ear.
Our philosophy can be summed up in a few words: authenticity, simplicity and high standards.
We believe that a good harp does not need to look luxurious: it must sound in tune, last a long time, and inspire confidence and admiration.
We craft each harp with the same care that a luthier would put into their work: balance, precision and attention to detail. Our levers, tuning pegs and accessories follow the same philosophy: no gimmicks, just practical solutions designed with harpists in mind.
It is this conviction that guides every decision – from the design of the instruments to the choice of partners and the selection of accessories. In particular, it has led us to forge a partnership with Bow Brand, whose strings are the benchmark for professional harpists worldwide.
